LAYOUT & PLANNING

Plan a Home That Works Before You Choose Finishes

A practical design process starts with habits, movement and dimensions—not the colour palette.

Start with real daily routines

List the activities that happen in each room, including the awkward ones: charging devices, folding laundry, storing school bags and preparing meals. Consider who uses the space and at what times.

Measure before imagining

Record room dimensions, door swings, window locations and the positions of fixed services. Check furniture sizes and allow comfortable paths around tables and seating before committing to built-ins.

Make storage specific

Define what each cabinet must hold. A tall broom compartment needs different dimensions from a pantry; drawers and shelves serve different tasks. Planning by contents avoids wasted storage.

Validate the sequence

Resolve layouts and practical needs before selecting finishes. A coherent interior is easier to achieve once circulation, proportions and the main joinery decisions are settled.
